I would like you to help me choose the title of my next novel. It's an action adventure with a bit of contemporary crime and revenge thrown in to the mix. The idea will be that you read the synopsis below and then use the form saying which of the two titles I've proposed fits the book. I'm asking people to do the same at the book signings and all the data will be collated and a decision made before the book is published next year.
Synopsis
Bad Blood / Kane is Able
Septimus Kane. Kaney to his mates; not that he counts many as friends, is a lonely product of a brutal urban upbringing. Escaping a life of crime at an early age he spent years in troubled hotspots around the globe under the pay of Her Majesty’s Armed Forces. Working his way up the ranks he crossed the perceived barrier and was accepted into Sandhurst as part of a new thinking initiative on behalf of the Army top brass, a project to show that the working classes could fill the ranks once flocked to by the upper classes now abandoned for less dangerous post 9/11 occupations. Once the poster boy for being urban and upwardly mobile his flourishing career came crashing to a halt when he was drummed out of Sandhurst on a trumped up drugs charge. It seemed his roots could be seen beneath that smart uniform after all. With his Army career over he takes time to reflect whilst meandering around the Spanish costas spending his savings.
After robbing a gang of jewel thieves he ends up working for their boss Jimmy Bowler; an underworld kingpin living it large on a massive floating Casino. Bowler is brokering a diamond exchange deal between a wealthy collector and the current owner, a minor member of the Northumberland aristocracy.
The gems are currently held by the Harker family, who are keen to sell in order to bolster their ever diminishing family fortune. What they don’t want people to know is that the diamonds came from WW2 prisoners of war and were smuggled from Germany at the end of the war.
Bowler dispatches Kane to oversee the safe transportation of the stones from Harker Hall, a stately home nestled in the Northumberland countryside. What seems like a simple transport job will propel Sep Kane into his old stomping ground and face to face with Lieutenant Colonel Harker, the man responsible for getting Kane kicked out of Sandhurst.
Let me know what you think and I will email you after the votes have been counted early next year. Thank you for your help.
